1. Who we are
Manomundi is a recruitment platform connecting Mexican construction workers with Portuguese construction companies, with administrative coordination of the D1 employment-visa process. For questions about this policy, contact contact@manomundi.com.
2. What we collect
We collect data that's necessary to run a placement and the visa workflow. Concretely:
- Identity data — name, date of birth, nationality, passport number and scan, criminal-record check.
- Professional data — trade, years of experience, certifications, prior employers, language levels.
- Contact data — email, phone number, country of residence, preferred language.
- Placement data — offers received, contracts signed, salary, employment dates, visa milestones.
- Account data — login identifiers (via Clerk), session timestamps, role-based permissions.
- Billing data — invoice records, payment receipts (processed by Stripe; we don't store card data).
3. Why we collect it
- To match workers with companies based on requirements and verify candidate fitness.
- To prepare and submit D1 visa applications to AIMA on the worker's behalf.
- To bill placement fees and process commission payments.
- To send notifications about offers, visa updates, and platform activity.
- To meet legal obligations under Portuguese employment and immigration law.
4. Lawful basis
We process personal data on three bases under the GDPR: contract (to deliver the placement service you signed up for), legal obligation (visa coordination, tax records), and legitimate interest (fraud prevention, platform security). Sensitive data (criminal-record certificates, passport scans) is processed only with your explicit consent.
5. Who sees your data
- Companies see your profile only after you accept an introduction and only the fields relevant to the offer.
- Recruitment agencies (if you registered through one) see your placement progress and visa status.
- AIMA and Portuguese authorities receive the documents required for your D1 visa.
- Service providers we rely on (hosting, email delivery, payment processing) act under data-processing agreements.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.
6. How long we keep it
Active account data is kept while your account is open. Visa and placement records are kept for up to 7 years after a placement ends to meet Portuguese tax and labour-law retention requirements. You can ask us to delete data that is no longer legally required (see § 8).
7. International transfers
Manomundi operates between México and Portugal, so data crosses borders. Both countries have adequate data-protection frameworks for our purposes. Where a transfer relies on a non-EU processor, we use Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete data we no longer need to keep.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for any processing based solely on consent.
Email contact@manomundi.com to exercise any of these. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data-protection authority (CNPD).
9. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your language preference. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics that profile you.
10. Changes to this policy
When we update this policy we'll change the date at the top and, for material changes, send you an email notification.
